InPATH—Integrated Publish & Subscribe Architecture Test Harness

An Integrated Publish & Subscribe Architecture Test Harness (InPATH) was developed for the Air Force to provide Publish & Subscribe (P&S) and web services platform evaluators, a powerful tool to test and assess the capability and performance of various P&S architectures. Adopting a modular approach, the designed easy-to-use and cost-efficient test harness will enable distributed simulation and testing of multiple P&S systems on multiple platforms. InPATH would allow one to design, simulate, execute, monitor, and report on scenarios that stress P&S system performance for a given infosphere that is populated by a representative set of information producers and consumers (clients). Encompassing two basic approaches in performance testing, namely, the active software encapsulation approach and the non-invasive network capture and replay approach, this integrated solution will enable evaluation of P&S and web services systems both under development and in operation.
